Why I Created Run Slick: Because Friction Should Never Be the Reason You Stop
Share
We humans were made to move.
To run farther. Climb higher. Explore more.
Movement takes us places. Sometimes physically. Sometimes mentally. Sometimes somewhere we did not believe we could reach.
But something as small as friction can turn that experience into discomfort—and eventually, into a reason to slow down or stop.
I believed that was a problem worth solving properly - Check the video on YouTube:
It Started With Something I Was Not Willing to Accept
Run Slick began while I was training for my first full Ironman.
I had committed to something difficult. Months of training. Early mornings. Long rides. Long runs. A lot of time spent preparing for one very important day.
I knew there would be plenty of challenges I could not control.
The weather. Fatigue. Nutrition. The course. How my body would respond after hours of movement.
But chafing?
That was not going to be the thing that derailed me.
The more I thought about it, the more obvious the problem became.
Runners deal with rubbing between their thighs. Hikers feel it under backpacks and waistbands. Triathletes experience it beneath wetsuits, cycling gear and wet clothing. People working long shifts feel it under uniforms, bras, belts and equipment.
Friction is not limited to one sport or one type of person.
Whenever people move, things rub.
The Existing Compromise Did Not Feel Good Enough
The products available at the time could help, but many came with tradeoffs I did not want to accept.
Some felt greasy.
Some felt sticky or heavy.
Some were messy to apply.
Some left residue on clothing.
Some had to be reapplied or became another thing to think about during the day.
I did not want a product that demanded attention.
I wanted one that did its job—and then disappeared.
Something that went on light.
Something that felt good on the skin.
Something that could stand up to sweat, rain, heat and long hours of movement.
Something I could apply before starting and stop thinking about once I was moving.
A Different Kind of Anti-Friction Product
Run Slick was created as a lightweight, silicone-based anti-friction roll-on.
It forms a thin, silky layer where skin, clothing or gear rubs.
It was designed to feel light instead of greasy, smooth instead of sticky, and durable without feeling like a heavy coating on the skin.
The goal was never to make people think more about anti-chafing.
The goal was to help them think about it less.
Because the best product in this category should not become part of the experience.
It should quietly protect the experience.
Built for People With Somewhere to Go
Run Slick is for the runner chasing a finish line.
The hiker chasing a summit.
The triathlete moving from water to bike to run.
The ultrarunner preparing for hours on the trail.
The walker building a new habit.
The person working a long shift.
The traveler exploring a new city.
Anyone who has somewhere to go and does not want friction deciding when the day is over.
You do not have to be an elite athlete.
You only have to move.
Why the Name Run Slick?
The word “slick” describes the experience we wanted to create.
Smooth movement.
Less resistance.
A silky layer that helps skin and gear move past each other more comfortably.
And while the name says “Run,” the idea has always been bigger than running.
It is about movement in every form.
Running. Hiking. Riding. Walking. Racing. Working. Exploring.
Wherever friction shows up, Run Slick was created to help movement continue.
The Product Should Never Be the Hero
The hero is the person moving.
The person who trained.
The person who showed up.
The person who kept going when things became uncomfortable.
Run Slick is simply there to remove one unnecessary obstacle.
You put it on.
It disappears into the experience.
And you stay focused on where you are going.
That is why Run Slick exists.
Because friction should never be the reason you stop.
Keep moving.
Keep friction from deciding how far you go.
